About the Founder & Director
First, Leslee is a child of the Living God, a wife, mother, ultrasound tech, and patient advocate. The short version of her testimony began in 2013 when Leslee was approached by her friend Donna to become a volunteer at the Hope House Pregnancy Center in Moultrie. Leslee began teaching parenting classes and Bible study which strengthened her love for the ladies and babies she served. After being a volunteer for a while, Leslee held the office of Secretary on the Board of Directors of the Hope House.
In January of 2015, Leslee felt God calling her to go back to school for ultrasound and she had a deep desire to serve in a pregnancy care center like Hope House. After graduating from the ultrasound program, God took Leslee on a journey of growth to hone her ultrasound skills and experience various challenges of pregnancies before placing her in a pregnancy care center serving some of the most vulnerable young women. Leslee served as an ultrasound tech at the Howard Center in Valdosta, Southern OB/Gyn Associates in Valdosta and then at the Shaw Center in Thomasville before joining the Pregnancy Care Center of Tiftarea in Tifton.
Leslee was asked by a director of the center what her "impossible" dream was that only God could make happen. Leslee replied that it would be to open a maternity home. It was just a quick answer to the question and not something Leslee had given much thought; it was a dream, nonetheless. Little did Leslee know that this "dream" was something God was leading her to do. Serving as an ultrasound tech and patient advocate opened her eyes, and she quickly discovered that the pregnancy centers were just the beginning for many of these women. The center was a place where the patient's pregnancy was confirmed, but what happened after they left? Did they have a safe place to live during their pregnancy? What would happen to these women and their babies if they had no home to bring their baby to? Were they kicked out of their homes by parents for getting pregnant? Were they in an abusive relationship? Did they have the life skills to take care of themselves and their babies? So many questions and "what if's" were realities in the advocacy room. Leslee knew that there had to be more than giving these ladies a pack of diapers and a "good luck" as they walked out the door. That is when that dream started becoming reality. Leslee's friend and the clinic nurse Shannon gifted her with a mustard seed pendant for Mother's Day in May and that mustard seed pendant became the centerpiece of the name of the cottage. Planting seeds of God's love in these women's heart is so monumental and we want to see them grow.
Yes, we are pro-life, but we are also pro-woman. We want to encourage the woman that she can parent her baby on her own, regardless of the relationship with the baby's father. We as Christians are called by our Father God to help and assist our brothers and sisters in need, not as enablers but as a ministry, ministering and giving a "hand up" to those who truly need it.
The greatest verse Leslee has found that shows her call to this ministry and to share the love of Jesus through grace and mercy is Isaiah 6:8 "Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me." Leslee has heard God and truly believes he has laid this ministry before her, she is just the vessel that said "Yes, send me Lord"!
"What is your 'impossible' dream that only God can make happen?"
